PhenCon history 101

Throughout the 80’s Phenolic Foam Roof Insulation (PFRI) was installed throughout the United States. During the 90’s it became apparent this product was causing significant damage to metal roof decks. PhenCon became a leading advocate for building owner’s, assisting them in obtaining settlements from the original PFRI manufacturer and heading up roof replacement projects and structural deck repairs for their clients.

In 1999 a Class Action Settlement was approved on behalf of nearly 17,000 building owners who had PFRI installed on their building. PhenCon quickly became the consulting firm of choice to guide building owners through a very complicated claim process. All told, PhenCon has represented over 3,000 individual building owners across the United States. We have obtained over $80,000,000 in settlement funds for our clients and have mobilized over 2,000 projects. PhenCon is still very active in PFRI and will be until 2011.

The infrastructure put in place to manage such a large volume of clients has resulted in an environment that all of our clients benefit from. PhenCon is involved in roughly $50,000,000 worth of roofing purchases a year. We utilize this influence to give all of our clients buying power through volume material purchases and then combine projects and bid to contractors in Co-Ops for some of the most competitive contractor pricing this industry has ever seen.
